A bug out bag is usually one of the first things new preppers put together. They read list of recommended items, go buy a bag and stuff it all inside. This is an excellent start, but as with everything improvement is always possible.
Any experienced hiker will tell you, the weight of your pack can make or break your trip. The same theory applies when bugging out. It's natural to want to be prepared for anything, but your back will thank you for being a little more frugal. I encourage everyone to research ultralight backpacking, as thru hikers of years past have reviewed and compiled lists of the best gear available.
